AIA Commendation for Rushall Park: Proudly Built by @manresaconstructions.

We are delighted to announce that Rushall Park by Architecture Practice @mgsarchitects has been recognised at this year’s Victorian Architecture Awards in the Residential Architecture Multiple Housing category.

Rushall Park received a Commendation and Leith Park, an Architecture Award with the Jury citing:

“At a time when aged care is in the spotlight, this project presents an uplifting example of the typology. The most successful move is in the form of oversized, connecting, covered walkways which expand to form seating opportunities. These comfortable, open air spaces encourage unplanned interactions and are just one example of the client and architects’ great sensitivity in considering the residents needs.”

Acting as an interface between the adjacent rail line and the 19th century cottages requires a robust, durable and acoustically sound façade on one side, and an elegantly scaled assemblage to the other.

“MGS Architects and their team delivered design solutions that are sensitive to the existing built environment while incorporating quality design principles that recognise the needs of older people.” Phil Wohlers, CEO, OCAV

The bricks were custom made by @brickworksbp but have since been incorporated into their standard range – an example of design influencing production.

A big congratulations to @mgsarchitects on the award and to everyone who worked on and contributed to this fantastic project.
