Rushall Park project was shortlisted for the 2020 World Architecture News Awards World Architecture News. We are honoured that this remarkable project has been recognised on this global platform for its contribution to the local realm.
Rushall Park expands upon the built legacy of the State’s oldest retirement village provider, the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria, adding 35 independent living units to the historic village in North Fitzroy.
With careful consideration of the estate’s heritage character, MGS Architects designed a complementary and respectful counterpoint to the existing context by articulating the new building forms that, while distinguishable from the original fabric, acknowledge its picturesque quality.
Slipping delicately into its context, the design brings to life a forgotten corner of Rushall Park, completing the extraordinary work started more than one and a half centuries ago by a community that strongly cherished its older retired citizens.
We really enjoyed the intricacy of this build and are thrilled with the result. Another great collaboration. #buildingvaluetogether
